With an investment of USD 90 million and the creation of 200 jobs in its first phase, ContiTech has opened its new plant in Aguascalientes—its second Continental facility in the state—focused on producing hydraulic hoses for industrial use. The complex is located in the VESTA Industrial Park in the southern area of the capital and reinforces the presence of German investment in the region.
Business strategy and regional environment
Governor Tere Jiménez highlighted that Aguascalientes continues to advance with security, regulatory certainty, and a stable business environment that facilitates project development. She noted that Germany is the state’s main European trade partner and among its three largest investors, with USD 1.445 billion accumulated between 1999 and Q2 2025, and 17 German companies currently operating in the state.
ContiTech CEO Phillip Nelles expressed appreciation for the state government’s support and emphasized that the new plant strengthens operations across the Americas and enhances service capacity for customers throughout Mexico. He noted that the facility will play a key role in the company’s future growth.
Andreas Gerstenberg, Head of Industrial Solutions, explained that the plant manufactures hydraulic hoses made of rubber and steel for fluid transport, with varying pressure resistance levels. The location within the VESTA Industrial Park integrates production capabilities and quality assurance.
Plant Manager Eduardo Barros highlighted local talent and noted that the project was completed in 12 months, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and a specialized laboratory. He emphasized that the facility meets technical and efficiency standards required by industrial markets.
Production capacity and market reach
According to Project Director Ryan Gocher, the Aguascalientes complex will enable the company to double production and provide faster response times to market demand. The strategy focuses on productivity, scalability, and proximity to customers.
Mayor Leonardo Montañez stated that the municipal government prioritizes services, urban planning, and regulatory streamlining to support business operations. He reaffirmed coordination to ensure a competitive operating environment.
The inauguration was attended by Mathias Reinsberg, Global CFO of ContiTech; Jorge Armando Andrade Serafín, Deputy Secretary of Investment and Development; and Salvador Alcalá Durán, President of the Economic Development Commission. The opening strengthens Aguascalientes’ position as a hub for advanced manufacturing with German capital.
