The India-based automotive components company will expand its plant in Zitlaltépec, Tlaxcala, with a USD 50 million investment to add a new painting area and modern injection molding machines for Audi Q5 and EQ7 models. This expansion will generate sustainable employment for more than 150 direct jobs and 300 indirect jobs.

Emmanuel Ramos, General Director of Motherson in Mexico, noted that the group's growth has been mainly organic and highlighted the decade-long trajectory of the Tlaxcala plant, which manufactures molds and components for the automotive sector. “We are a family-owned company with values that are replicated across our 30 plants in Mexico,” he stated.

Economic impact in Tlaxcala

The announcement was accompanied by the Secretary of Economic Development, Javier Marroquín, who emphasized that Motherson’s operation has played a key role in the eastern-southern region of the state.

“This investment translates into well-being for 150 families. The economic benefits will remain in the region, with the support of the state government to guarantee conditions of certainty and security,” he said.

Marroquín encouraged the private sector to maintain coordination with the state administration to facilitate new projects and support regional development.

Production capacity and recruitment

The expansion is expected to be completed between April and July 2026. New positions will include managerial roles, supervisors, engineers, and operators. The hiring process will begin in the second quarter of 2026 through the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco), job fairs, and digital platforms.

The project includes the installation of a new painting booth for small and medium-sized components, as well as six additional injection molding machines, representing infrastructure nearly equivalent to a new plant. The expansion seeks to meet global production requirements for the Audi Q5 model.
