The Mexican company Transportes Aéreos Regionales (TAR) confirmed direct flights from Saltillo to Toluca, and from Monclova to Monterrey, Querétaro and the Mexican capital, which begin operations from March 17, while from April both coahuilenses cities will have as destination Houston, Texas, in what will be the first international connection of the airline.
The flights that mark the start of ART operations in the state will be based at the Plan de Guadalupe, Ramos Arizpe, and Venustiano Carranza, de Frontera airports, municipalities near Saltillo and Monclova, respectively.
On its official website and through its social networks, it was announced that prices on single flights range between 989 and 2,099 pesos, in addition to opening offers to those who buy tickets to fly between March 17 and 31.
Ricardo Gastón Aguilar, general director of TAR, explained that these new routes seek to cover the growing need to connect the national territory with the world. The airline expects flights to be taken mainly by business travelers, with a significant participation of people who go shopping in the case of the route to Houston.
He informed that international flights will be operated from the cities of Coahuilenses, with a previous connection from Querétaro, and sometimes, from Toluca.
"The approach is that direct flights would go from Saltillo and Monclova and originate from Querétaro and sometimes from Toluca, three times a week each," he said.
For his part, José María Morales, mayor of Ramos Arizpe, considered that these new frequencies will increase the competitiveness of the southeast region.
"They are factors that give competitiveness to the municipality and the region, always such initiatives are applauded and welcome."
It should be noted that this Queretan company increased its passage by 12% in 2019 compared to 2018, transporting more than 600,000 passengers through the 23 national routes it has, to which the destinations of Saltillo and Monclova are added.
