As a result of the competitive advantages and diversity of industries that encompass the five regions of the state, as of the third quarter of 2019, Coahuila's economic activity reported a 3% growth in relation to the same period of 2018, according to the results of the Indicator Quarterly State Economic Activity (ITAEE) released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

These figures were only exceeded by the growth of Tlaxcala (14.2%) and Colima (4.8%), states where the participation of both entities in the industry is lower unlike Coahuila in territory and population.

Baja California (2.5%) and Sinaloa (2.2%) complete the top 5, with the territories that achieved the best annual growth rates in Mexico during that period.

During the renewal of the Coahuila Pact, Miguel Ángel Riquelme, governor of the state, stressed that so far there are satisfactory results with the implementation of said agreement, since economic growth is a product of it, which was signed in March 2019.

"Coahuila demonstrated its strength within a context and a complicated context, being the only entities that grew to 3% and contributed to GDP in the national economy," he said, adding that these results are achieved with work in conjunction with The business sector.

THE DOUBLE MAY GROW

Eduardo Garza Martínez, National Vice President North Region Center of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra), said that if rounds were opened for clean energy and shale gas, Coahuila for its energy potential would double its growth, instead of 3% that the Inegi reported, you can go to 6 percent.

“In the case of energy, Coahuila has great potential, it could double its growth if the rounds for clean energy are opened where it is a national leader, because it has great potential in wind, solar and, also, the great We have wealth in the north of Coahuila, which is shales, ”he said.

“If these rounds occur and we exploit the shale gas, wind and solar energy as Coahuila does, I am sure that we can reach not 3%, but 6% in the state, it is something that the president of Canacintra asked me [ Enoch Castellanos Férez] to tell you, ”he said.
