Tetra Pak confirmed its expansion of its plant in Querétaro , where it will invest 500 million pesos .

The objective of this new injection of capital is to strengthen the packaging production capacity and to ensure the provision of safe food for Mexico, America, Europe and Asia; therefore, this factory will be consolidating as the company's second largest worldwide.

The expansion will have an area of 800 square meters , which is intended for the installation of new state-of-the-art equipment such as a new line in the cutting area and to expand the lamination area, which will increase the production capacity of 11.3 billion to 12.8 billion packages .

This investment will help Tetra Pak in its proposal to develop a low-carbon circular economy, in alliance with collectors and three recyclers in the region.

This contemplates that the new space will begin operations in 2024 , which will allow the company to optimize operating costs, thus avoiding the importation of materials from other countries, and prioritizing the Mexican production plant that distributes containers in the Mexican market, in North America, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.

In Mexico, Tetra Pak began operations in 1962, being the first country outside Europe where a packaging material plant was installed and operated, with the aim of supporting the National Institute for the Protection of Children (INPI), predecessor of the DIF.

This year 2022, the company celebrates 60 years of presence in the Mexican market and delivers food to all corners of the country through 1,000 employees.

It should be noted that, in addition to offering a full range of consumer food cartons, Tetra Pak has solutions and processing equipment for dairy, cheese, ice cream, beverages and ready meals ; as well as technical service .
