Suprajit Mexico announced a new expansion phase at its facility in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, representing an estimated investment of USD 2.7 million and the creation of 800 new jobs over the next year. The project reinforces the company’s presence in the regional automotive sector and highlights Tamaulipas as a competitive destination for manufacturing investment.
The announcement was made during an official event led by Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and State Secretary of Economy Ninfa Cantú Deándar, who emphasized the importance of the expansion for industrial development and formal job creation in the state. With this new phase, the Indian-owned company reaffirmed its confidence in the business environment and industrial conditions offered by Tamaulipas.
Industrial Expansion and Job Creation
Suprajit Mexico currently employs approximately 500 people at its Matamoros operations. Once the expansion is completed, total employment is expected to reach 1,300 direct jobs, positioning the company as one of the most significant automotive-sector employers in the border region.
A substantial portion of the 800 new positions will be allocated to specialized manufacturing roles, strengthening local talent, increasing productivity, and contributing to the development of a more competitive industrial ecosystem aligned with global automotive industry standards.
Export-Oriented Production and International Recognition
Since beginning operations in Matamoros, Suprajit Mexico has established itself as a key manufacturer of automotive cables and components, as well as cables for outdoor-use equipment. Currently, 90% of its production is exported, while the remaining 10% serves the domestic market.
Earlier this month, the company received Ford’s Q1 certification, one of the most demanding quality standards in the automotive industry. This recognition validates Suprajit’s operational performance, process reliability, and product quality, reinforcing its position as a strategic international supplier.
During the event, Governor Américo Villarreal congratulated the company’s leadership, headed by Plant Manager Juan Zamora, and reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting investments that generate high-quality jobs and long-term economic value in strategic sectors such as automotive manufacturing.
