In order to increase its competitiveness in the region, the company SodeciaAutomotive announced the expansion of the operations of its auto body component production plant, which is located in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila.
Enrique Meza, general manager of Sodecia in Ramos Arizpe , reported that the capital injection will be for 36 million dollars and 200 new jobs will be generated, which will triple the workforce they currently have.
One of the purposes is to increase the catalog of products they have through automation technologies to serve the North American markets, mainly the United States. In addition, they will also market their products in South America.
“In this area we have all the conditions for our business to grow and be prosperous. Eight years ago the company was born in Portugal and it was decided to install a company in Mexico, which despite the problems generated in recent years, we continue to grow and evolve, "said the manager.
With this movement, they will considerably increase their production capacity in components for the bodywork of different types of automobile. The company is located in the Santa María Industrial Park and will reach a territorial extension of 13,000 square meters.
In an interview for Mexico Industry , Enrique Meza added that Coahuila's main advantage is the staff they have, since they all have a lot of knowledge in the automotive industry.
"We will implement new technologies for the new processes, since we will have hot stamping machines, a tool that few plants in the country have, and we are sure that the process will be easy for our collaborators to learn."
In that sense, the initial plan is marked so that they begin to produce around 5,600 pieces per week; however, in the medium term, and as they install all their production lines, they will be producing close to 10,000 pieces in the same period.
To conclude, he said that his supplier is made up of 70% of local origin and the remaining 30% comes from abroad.
Enrique Meza, general manager of Sodecia in Ramos Arizpe, was accompanied at the investment announcement event by state and municipal authorities, including Governor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís; the secretary of economy, Claudio Bres Garza, and the mayor of the municipality, José María Morales.
