Scania Opens 18th Branch in Tabasco with MXN 23.56 Million Investment

Tabasco

September 25, 2025

Scania Mexico inaugurated its 18th branch in Villahermosa, Tabasco, with the goal of strengthening its service and support network in the southeast. The location responds to a strategic logistics hub that connects with Veracruz, Chiapas, Campeche, and the Yucatán Peninsula, an area with high energy activity and the presence of distribution centers for retail chains.

According to Rolling Fleet, more than 270 Scania units operate in the region, a figure that confirms the demand for close support and underscores the importance of this new site for ensuring operational continuity for carriers.

Infrastructure, specialization, and after-sales service

The opening involved an investment of MXN 23.56 million to consolidate the brand’s presence in the southeast and provide top-level service. The complex covers a total of 1,604 m², with a 940 m² workshop and a 218 m² warehouse, as well as dining facilities, coworking areas, dormitories, locker rooms and showers, rest areas for drivers, and parking—features that enhance the experience for both customers and technical staff.

The workshop operates four service bays—one for gas engines and another for buses—equipped with stationary air and lubricant networks, as well as eight mobile cooling units. The branch employs nine staff members, including advisors, technicians, and parts specialists, trained to maintain competitive response times and on-site parts availability.

The new branch incorporates LED lighting, an air extraction system, and eight cooling units for thermal comfort, measures that reduce electricity consumption, optimize resource use, and support sustainability without compromising workshop productivity.

Expanding network and business focus

Scania Mexico operates 18 branches and more than 60 service points across the country. Its 2029 goal is to reach 45 branches, offering modern, extensive coverage to support cargo, buses, and special applications. Villahermosa will provide certified CNG technicians, a robust parts warehouse, and assistance equipment, strengthening response capacity in a key corridor for the logistics and energy industries.

“This opening reflects our commitment to being close to those who rely on Scania every day… Villahermosa allows us to be closer to them,” said Gisela Quintero, Customer Experience and Services Director.

“Villahermosa is strategic because it connects Tabasco with the Peninsula and with high-impact logistics corridors… customers will benefit from modern infrastructure, certified technicians, and available parts,” added Manuel Aranda, Retail Director.

The new Scania service point boosts transportation competitiveness in the southeast, improves fleet mechanical availability, and supports critical operations linked to the Olmeca Refinery and the ports of Dos Bocas and Frontera. The expansion reinforces Mexico’s role as a logistics–industrial hub, with closer after-sales service, gas technology, and sustainable practices that enhance the sector’s operational efficiency.
