RGV is the future of Texas: new alliance for economic promotion and development

To promote the arrival of new investments, businesses and industries throughout the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) region made up of Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr and Willacy counties, at the most recent RGV Partnership Economic Summit in the city of Edinburg , Texas, an agreement was made official with the participation of 47 cities and the state governor, Greg Abbott.
The area is now part of " One region, one voice", where there are industrial parks, commercial airports, international bridges, seaports, as well as solid logistics networks for world trade processes.
The RGV region, which is also located on the southern border with Mexico, has a growth of 26.1 billion dollars towards 2024, and in the last year, it registered bank movements for more than 22 billion dollars, plus 17 billion dollars derived from the health sector, in addition to a 15% increase in the number of new professionals, with records that exceed 20,000 graduates.
With the promotion of RGV, not only a city is encouraged, but a prosperous area, where every day there is growth and prospects of prosperity, highlighted Daniel Silva, president and CEO of RGV Partnership . "The union of all the cities of RGV makes us more competitive for investments and economic development, guarantees that the projects will continue to arrive and that they will move to the best place in terms of infrastructure, economy, education, labor and experience."
PROMOTION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Terry Canales, from the Texas House of Representatives, agreed with this message and added the million-dollar investments that the private and public sectors maintain to deal with nearshoring .
For his part, Patrick McDonnell CEO of VTX1 Companies and president of RGV Partnership , stressed the diversity of industries that have established their businesses in the RGV region with successful export and import processes to Mexico and the world.
Alex G. Meade, Texas transportation commissioner, mentioned that the RGV is the most important land port in the United States in terms of commercial exchange and also spoke about the importance of detonating specialized cargo airports.
The RGV Partnership 2023 Economic Summit was attended by multiple businessmen, association representatives and leaders from the main industrial sectors such as logistics, automotive, real estate developers, industrial parks, manufacturing, among others.
In this sense, Adriana Cruz, executive director of economic development and tourism of Texas, explained that the benefits of the new alliance of RGV Partnership will be for the population in general, since with greater investment and the economic flow a chain of prosperity that includes even recreational activities.
While Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, from the 20th District of Texas, expressed the need for all RGV economic development leaders to promote investors throughout the area and to assume the strengths of each city as their own.
THE MAYORS
The commitment to encourage investments from the perspective of "One region, one voice" was put on paper with the signatures and representations of more than 20 mayors, who will have the responsibility of promoting 47 RGV cities such as Alamo, Alton, Brownsville, Combes , Donna, Edcouch, Edinburg, Elsa, Grenjeno, Harlingen, Hidalgo, La Feria, La Joya, La Villa, Los Fresnos, Lyford, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission, Palmhurst, Palmvalley, Palmview, Peñitas, Pharr, Port Isabel, Primera, Progresso Lake, Progresso, Rangerville, Rio Hondo, San Benito, San Juan, San Perlita, Santa Rosa, South Padre Island, Weslaco, Escobares, La Grulla, Raymondville, Rio Grande City, Roma, Sullivan City, Town of Indian Lake and Town of Rancho.
Ramiro Garza, mayor of Edinburg, the host city of the Economic Summit, declared that "the idea is to attract all the attention of investors to our region, so that they know what we have to offer, all the assets, so when a project is achieved, all we will be benefited because there will be more economic activity, job offers and infrastructure creation”.
For her part, Harlingen Mayor Norma Sepulveda referred to the benefits and competencies that make RGV unique. “No other region in Texas can boast of the industries that exist in RGV, of the highways, airports, international bridges; This alliance shows the commitment we have to bring better opportunities and development”.

The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, was the guest of honor in this alliance, and during his message he emphasized that the economic development of the state is focused in the short term on the Rio Grande Valley. “The future of the Texas economy is here in RGV, where everyone is part of one voice and one region, I am confident that this alliance will drive new economic advantages that will further position the state, which already ranks first in the world economy, jobs and exports”.
The president also spoke about the importance of Texas in the face of nearshoring as it borders prosperous Mexican states such as Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, where borders are shared, as well as industrial projects.
