Mubea and Hella Invest $76 Million in Guanajuato to Boost Automotive Manufacturing

With an investment of $60 million, Mubea inaugurated its new facility dedicated to manufacturing precision steel tubes. The expansion will generate 200 direct jobs and reinforces the company’s commitment to clients such as General Motors, Stellantis, Ford, and Tesla.
With operations in 20 countries and 54 plants worldwide, Mubea continues to drive significant growth in North America from its base in Guanajuato.
Hella Expands in Apaseo el Grande
Hella, meanwhile, invested $15.4 million to open a new plant focused on producing body control units, electronic power steering systems, and remote key fobs, among other components. The expansion is expected to create 123 jobs.
The company now stands as one of Guanajuato’s strategic automotive partners, with an accumulated investment of $46.5 million and a workforce of 245 employees in the state. With the latest expansion in Amexhe, Hella’s total investment in Apaseo el Grande has reached $61.9 million, creating 368 direct jobs and strengthening the competitiveness of the local automotive cluster.
Guanajuato: A Key Nearshoring Destination
Speaking on behalf of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, Deputy Secretary of Investment Promotion Alejandro Hernández Fonseca highlighted Guanajuato’s competitive advantages to capitalize on nearshoring.
“These investments translate into job opportunities and improved quality of life for local communities. The Government of the People reaffirms its commitment to social and economic development,” he stated.
Both projects represent a strategic step in diversifying and consolidating the state’s automotive value chain. With Mubea and Hella’s new operations, Guanajuato strengthens its position as a reliable destination for targeted, complementary, and sustainable investment, placing the state on the global map of the automotive industry.
