Motherson Invests MXN 280 Million in New Automotive Plant in Coahuila
September 24, 2025
Motherson SAS inaugurated its new plant in the Derramadero area of Saltillo, where it will manufacture dashboards for transport equipment. With an investment of MXN 280 million, this second operation in Mexico will generate 284 direct and indirect jobs under high standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.
Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas highlighted that Coahuila offers security, labor stability, rule of law, and a skilled workforce—factors that attract new investments. He noted that his administration has allocated more than MXN 6 billion to strengthen security, making Saltillo one of the safest capitals in the country, which favors the arrival of industrial projects.
Pawel Zarek, President of the Americas at Motherson, emphasized that Coahuila “sets the benchmark” for investing and growing in Mexico, thanks to a stable government environment, robust infrastructure, and a highly trained workforce. In the same vein, Luis Olivares Martínez, State Secretary of Economy, affirmed that globally present companies have achieved their best results and quality standards in Coahuila.
Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz González pointed out that the new operation joins the industrial corridor of the Derramadero Valley, one of the most dynamic hubs in the country due to its automotive specialization and connectivity. The state government also highlighted progress on the expansion of the Saltillo–Derramadero highway, a project that will benefit more than 20,000 workers commuting through the area every day.
The local management, led by Víctor Sánchez, confirmed that the plant will increase the group’s production capacity in Mexico and meet demand for automotive interiors with flexible and efficient processes. Global executives such as Frederic Boumaza (CEO of MSaS) and Sukant Gupta (President of the Americas) attended the inauguration, along with members of the state cabinet.
Automotive momentum in Derramadero
The incorporation of Motherson strengthens the supply chain of automotive interiors in Coahuila, a state with an export-oriented profile and high levels of technical specialization. The integration of suppliers in the Saltillo–Derramadero corridor fosters economies of scale, reduces logistics times, and reinforces the ecosystem for new vehicle programs.
Conditions to invest and grow
Authorities and company leaders agreed that the combination of public security, road infrastructure, and industrial talent sustains manufacturing expansion. With the project now operational, Motherson consolidates its presence in Mexico and expands its platform to supply OEMs and Tier 1 companies with dashboards and interior components under quality and sustainability standards.
