Molex opens second state-of-the-art plant in Jalisco

Molex announced its expansion of production capabilities in North America  with the opening of a new plant south of Acatlán de Juárez, Jalisco.

With the installation of a second factory in the entity, the global electronics company and connectivity innovator has an area of ​​60,000 square meters, where they will increase capacity by an additional 100,000 square meters to support advanced engineering and large-scale production for industrial, transportation and automotive customers in North America and around the world.

INVESTMENT IN A FACTORY OF THE FUTURE

Molex has invested 130 million dollars in the development of this state-of-the-art facility, which is located in Centro Logístico de Jalisco ll has new tools, technologies and processes to meet the unprecedented demand for interconnection solutions for electric vehicles (EV ), in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and connected vehicles . 

The plant incorporates factory capabilities of the future, including advanced production line automation, autonomous robots, state-of-the-art molding and assembly tooling , as well as complete engineering and operations to optimize product development, supply chain supply, quality tests and manufacturing volume.

The availability of on-site reliability and metrology laboratory testing will enable local engineers to improve product designs and speed up development cycles. A cornerstone of Mol x's customer-centric approach, these local labs reduce cost and rework time at critical stages of product development. 

The use of innovative testing, simulation, and analytics is designed to deliver industry-leading quality, streamline product certifications, and speed time to market.

As part of Molex 's overall commitment to this region, a service-rich environment has been created to attract and retain highly-skilled local engineering talent. The company plans to increase its headcount from 200 employees to 300 by the end of the year. 

In addition, the new Guadalajara facility  complements the global presence and customer focus of Molex 's Transportation and Industrial Solutions division , which includes facilities and technical centers in Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Philippines, Poland, South Korea and the United States.

SUPPLY CHAIN ​​OPTIMIZATION

Molex  's expansion in Guadalajara strategically shortens supply chain cycles by enabling the local team in Mexico to streamline supply and demand decisions to mitigate manufacturing and product development risks. The opportunity to augment and align multiple geographically dispersed supply sources enhances the company's overall resilience to address changing market dynamics and disruptions on behalf of automotive customers globally.
