Marriott hotel chain will invest 25 million dollars in Tampico; new five star hotel

With an estimated investment of 25 million dollars , the construction of a new hotel in Tampico, Tamaulipas was announced , with which it seeks to trigger tourism and economic development in the southern part of the state, by also including the creation of a new park theme, aquarium, and a national museum of the history of Mexico.

The new complexes will be developed as part of the Tampico Port Tourism Conversion Master Plan , with an execution period of 16 months; The investment will be through the Marriott hotel chain , whose directors explained that the complex will be a five-star category with 154 rooms. 

For its part, the government of Tamaulipas explained that, in order to guarantee a comprehensive economic benefit, it was agreed that construction companies, labor and material suppliers, with local domiciles, would be used in the construction of the new hotel.

José Luis del Ángel Sosa, president of the Council of Business Institutions of the South of Tamaulipas (CIEST) highlighted the benefits of this investment announcement. “The decision made in favor of Tamaulipas by the businessmen of the Marriott chain will be an economic, tourism and development trigger for the entire metropolitan area such as Aldama, Ciudad Mante, it will give more presence to the Laguna del Carpintero, since in addition to the hotel an aquarium and a theme park are expected”.

The Regional Council for Economic Development and Competitiveness of the southern region was recently installed in Tampico , in which the CIEST protested as a member, for this reason, del Ángel Sosa stressed the importance of organizations and business chambers working together with the authorities to provide guarantees for upcoming investments. "We are constantly in meetings with the Ministry of Economy to land and manage projects, when something materializes, it not only represents infrastructure, it is jobs, tourism, a whole set."
