Madza reaches one million units manufactured in Guanajuato

Six years after arriving in Guanajuato, Mazda Mexico Vehicle Operation achieved its production of one million units.
The plant, located in the municipality of Salamanca, opened its doors in January 2014, beginning the manufacture of the Mazda2 and Mazda3, Sedan and Hatchback models.
In turn, they support Toyota in the construction of the Yaris-R; and recently they introduced the Mazda CX-30 truck, with which they celebrated the million units produced in the state and the commemoration of the first centenary of the Mazda Motor Corporation.
Akira Marumoto, president and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation, said the car manufacturer began production of tools and heavy machinery, but was gradually introduced into the automotive sector with the creation of the first three-wheeled commercial vehicle.
“The automotive industry is in a transition period that occurs every 100 years. And today we aspire to be a close brand with the client, offering products, technology and experiences that exceed their expectations, ”he said.
He explained that Mazda has a new medium-term strategic plan, with which they will strengthen the commitment with their collaborators and associates. Such is the case of Toyota, which by 2021 will start operations the new Mazda plant in alliance with the Japanese ship owner and is currently under construction in Alabama, United States.
"The Salamanca plant plays a strategic role as it is the first Mazda plant in North America, a collaboration and synergy is expected in various areas with the new plant in the United States," he said.
In turn, Chiharu Mizutani, president of Mazda de México Vehicle Operation, pointed out that the accumulated production denotes an achievement for the entire company, since it is an example of cooperation and joint effort between Japanese and Mexican society.
"This first million also means that the vehicles produced in this plant have the same quality as those manufactured in Japan, there is no difference," he said.
Kayoko Furukawa, acting general consul of Japan in León, said that this site has served as a mutual benefit between Mexico and Japan, fostering and increasing economic and friendship relations between the two nations, proof of this is the presence of about 300 companies installed in Guanajuato and more than 2,000 Japanese living in the state.
This industrial complex is the product of an investment of 785 million dollars and has about 5,300 employees from 24 municipalities in Guanajuato.
Currently, it exports 85% of its manufactured vehicles to the United States, Canada and various countries in Europe; while the remaining remains in the national market.
Mazda Motor Corporation is present in more than 130 countries and regions around the world, offering its customers various transport models with high technology and design, in order to offer more experiences when they drive their units.
