Leoni Wiring Systems to Expand Operations in Yucatán

Leoni Wiring Systems announced the expansion of its operations in Yucatán, a strategic move that will generate 3,500 new jobs over the coming years and reinforce the company’s position as a key player in Mexico’s automotive components industry, particularly in the production of automotive wiring harnesses for the Mexican and U.S. markets.

The company currently employs more than 2,600 workers in Mérida, where it operates two industrial plants integrated into its global manufacturing network. Leoni confirmed that the new production projects will focus on capacity expansion, process integration, and meeting the growing demand from the North American automotive sector.

Industrial Expansion and Job Creation

According to the company, the expansion will be carried out in phases, with the creation of 1,500 jobs in 2026 and an additional 2,000 jobs in 2027. This growth will significantly strengthen its workforce and further consolidate Yucatán as a competitive platform for specialized manufacturing.

Leoni Wiring Systems’ growth strategy reflects its long-term commitment to Mexico, which has become a critical link within its global supply chain due to factors such as proximity to the U.S. market, a technically skilled workforce, and deep integration with the USMCA automotive ecosystem.
