Lear inaugurates the Torreón II plant in Coahuila; will produce harnesses for electric cars

With an investment of more than 34 million dollars and the generation of 3,500 new jobs, the Lear company inaugurated in Matamoros, Coahuila, the new Lear Torreón II manufacturing plant, dedicated to the manufacture of automotive technology parts and electronic systems.
This project will help the company increase its production capacity for electric vehicle harnesses , so that they can satisfy the high demand of the main automotive brands.
The president of Lear in Mexico and Central America , Óscar Domínguez, explained that, with this plant, the number of employees will rise to 8,000, being the largest in the world.
Currently, the company maintains 45 plants in Mexico and has a payroll of more than 53,000 people, which has continued to expand in recent years.
"We will be the number one employer in La Laguna and the state of Coahuila, we have 45 plants in Mexico, we employ more than 53,000 people and we will continue to be a company that works with its people," Domínguez said.
Among Lear 's production , there are seats and harnesses for electric vehicles , the latter being the manufacturing that will be developed in the new Matamoros plant.
The senior vice president and president of E-systems , Carlos Esposito, said that these harnesses will be low voltage according to the requirements of its main consumers.
"Lear's specialty is producing structures, welding, painting and assemblies for the main light vehicle assemblers, in addition to the complete seats that we create in our Just In Time manufacturing center in Ramos Arizpe."
In this sense, the manager highlighted Lear 's trajectory in Coahuila, since in four decades they have managed to consolidate nine manufacturing centers, 15,000 jobs and at a national level there are 44 plants that add up between its two divisions; They also have a presence in 25 states of the Mexican Republic and 53,000 employees.
Carlos Esposito thanked the government authorities for their support to be able to develop their investment projects in the entity, since one of the companies' commitments is to invest in the communities where they do business.
"The Torreón plant will offer an environment that promotes a culture of safety, commitment to employees and high-performance work teams," he said.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Governor of Coahuila, Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís, who highlighted the solidity of the company, which has remained without strikes for more than 30 years of operation in the entity.
"They are consolidated as an innovative and industrial company, thank you for choosing the entity for expansion again, we ask Lear that if he plans to continue growing, it is in Coahuila," said the president.
For its part, the company indicated that the relationship and efforts it has with government authorities are part of a strategic alliance that generates jobs and promotes the economic development of the region.
A la inauguración también asistió el alcalde de Matamoros, Miguel Ángel Ramírez López, el alcalde de Torreón, Román Alberto Cepeda González, el titular de la Secretaría de Economía de Coahuila (SEC), Coahuila Claudio Bres Garza.
De Lear, acudió el vicepresidente de operaciones E-Systems, Carl Esposito, el vicepresidente de recursos humanos Octavio de la Rosa, también José Cruz, asesor sindical de CTM, así como el vicepresidente ejecutivo y presidente de la división de asientos, Frank Orsini, entre otros.
