Kirchhoff Automotive inaugurated a new plant at Parque Opción in San José Iturbide, Guanajuato, following an investment of $60 million. The project will generate 200 direct jobs and expands the company’s global network of operations, specializing in structural components for the automotive industry.

Kirchhoff Focuses on Innovation in Auto Parts

The plant will focus on high value-added processes such as welding, E-coat for front-end modules, collision management systems, and rear bumpers. With these operations, the company aims to strengthen its role as a key supplier to BMW, General Motors, Stellantis, and Honda, consolidating Mexico’s automotive supply chain.

According to company executives, the facility represents a strategic step toward serving North American automakers more efficiently and enhancing responsiveness in a constantly evolving market.

Consolidated Presence in Mexico and Worldwide

The new investment will also contribute 52 direct jobs in neighboring municipalities, reflecting the regional integration of its value chain. Guanajuato hosts more than 400 automotive projects and remains one of the most attractive destinations for foreign capital in this sector.

Kirchhoff Automotive operates 27 plants worldwide with over 8,000 employees, holding international certifications such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF. The company has also been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, ranking it among the top 5% of global industry leaders in sustainability.

The opening coincides with Kirchhoff’s 25th anniversary in Mexico, consolidating its presence in the country as part of its global growth strategy. Germany, Guanajuato’s third-largest trading partner, has already invested more than $3.5 billion in automotive projects.

With this expansion, Kirchhoff reinforces its commitment to Mexico as a strategic automotive manufacturing hub and underscores the Bajío region’s global relevance in the auto parts sector.
