Harting Technology Group , installed in Guanajuato Puerto Interior , inaugurated this Monday its first expansion where 283 specialized work spaces will be offered by the end of 2023.

This German capital company is a developer and manufacturer of connectivity solutions ; At its plant in Mexico, it produces and assembles overmolded cables and cable harnesses.

The investment for this expansion towards the end of the year will be 377 million pesos and they will be suppliers of Bombardier , Siemens , General Electric and Microsoft.

Florian Stützel COO of Harting North America, reminded the attendees that this project began in 2016 with 50 collaborators and currently there are more than 250, which has been achieved with the development of its local partners.

He said that these new facilities mean for the company a commitment to the increase of specialized work spaces, due to the great expectations for new businesses in the manufacture of mobility components in the region and in the world.

“We made this change in less than three months and this is possible with the work of our collaborators and the support of our partners. Our production capacity is extensive and new products are added, such as everything related to e-mobility", he commented.

He said that there are plans for this plant in Mexico by 2027, since he considered that the investment was made based on future business, so they opted for this medium-term strategy.

"We are going to expand our capabilities and develop an innovative portfolio driven by innovations in other corporate plants installed in various parts of the world," he explained.

The process to distribute the production in the plant will consist of transferring the overmolding process in other future expansions, for now it will be by modules, the first of them will be carried out in this expansion and the rest will be carried out in a second and third module. Well, in addition, he explained that they will have a future investment of more than 21% in the e-mobility line   and will invest in the short term in digitization and automation for all production lines, in order to have a data-based plant.

He also said that they expect additional investments in specific solutions for their premium customers , so they do not rule out adding production lines in the coming years.

In logistics they will also be making adjustments and developments for the warehouse, as well as for internal and external logistics.

The first module of this expansion is specialized in the data sending business with at least four production lines, later there are two more for the development of other markets and one more line for the development and design of products such as semiconductors, the which will be expanded in the second module.

SPECIALIZED IN E-MOBILITY

Jonh De Souza COO of Harting Americas,  reported that due to the increase in production, they sought an expansion of the plant, so he said he was lucky to be part of this growth of the company in the region.

He celebrated the availability of collaborators to learn about the skills that must be had to produce in a company like Harting , since he indicated that in Guanajuato there is a qualified workforce willing to obtain new knowledge hand in hand with the industry.

“We work for clients whose processes are zero errors and zero defects, which means a challenge for everyone, this led us to obtain projects from the start of operations until now, which speaks of the confidence they have in the work they do. the people of Guanajuato in our plant”, he opined.

He explained that from now on, they will be focused on three growth plans, such as; acquire new engineering capabilities from Mexico, that is, develop a data center to provide customer service from this point. The second is related to e-mobility , since as of February 2023 they will be collaborating with the first clients specialized in it and the third will have to do with the development of projects due to the expected rise of electric cars and an increase in their production.

Pedro Gutiérrez, manager of the Harting Mexico plant , reiterated that the objective of this expansion is to position itself in the North American market with a message of proximity, speed and quality, since he trusted that there is a promising future for the industry, since manufacturers Renowned automotive companies in Mexico have opened their doors to them to get to know their facilities and their production.

“We are a company that is outside the new requirements of our clients in mechanical engineering and logistics for the transfer of products, since we can guarantee fast deliveries, since we have our own warehouse at the airport. With these new facilities we are well positioned for our future”, he referred.

Regarding the sustainability programs in the industry, he stated that in this plant they made sure to significantly reduce the carbon footprint from the inside to the outside of the company, in order to take care of CO2 emissions.
