Harlingen EDC Meets with the Consulate of Mexico in Brownsville

Orlando Campos, CEO of the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) in Harlingen, Texas, recently met with Consul Judith Arrieta from the Consulate of Mexico in Brownsville.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen commercial ties, promote economic development, and gain insights into the various competitive advantages the city offers to investors and foreign trade processes.
Key Assets
During a tour of various points of interest, including the Port of Harlingen, Valley International Airport, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine (UTRGV), and the manufacturing company Penn Aluminum, Campos emphasized the significance of Mexico for Harlingen's economy. He stated, "The visit aligns with Harlingen's commitment to enhancing working relationships with Mexico and determining the most effective ways to collaborate with some of the community's strongest assets."
Heading into Mexican Territory
Consul Arrieta expressed interest in forging new connections between medical faculties in Mexico and the Harlingen system, promoting increased activity through the Port of Harlingen, whose import levels primarily target Mexican territory. Additionally, she learned about the ongoing infrastructure and expansion projects at Valley International Airport, aimed at enhancing air cargo capacity and global service.
