Guanajuato Ranks Second Nationally in Manufacturing Output

Guanajuato has emerged as a national leader in industrial performance, securing the second place in Mexico for total manufacturing output during the first four months of 2025. According to data from INEGI (Mexico’s national statistics agency), the state reported MXN $417.7 billion in production value — a 7.0% year-over-year increase, surpassing the national average of 5.1%.
Key Manufacturing Sectors Drive Growth
In the annual comparison for April, Guanajuato's manufacturing value rose by MXN $6.3 billion, marking a 6.4% growth. The most dynamic sectors included:
- Transportation equipment manufacturing (+10.9%)
- Printing and related industries (+9.7%)
- Basic metal industries (+6.2%)
- Food processing and production (+4.3%)
- These segments continue to reinforce the state's competitive edge across multiple global supply chains.
Economic Policy Reinforces Investment Climate
According to Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, Secretary of Economy for Guanajuato, these results reflect the state’s economic resilience and industrial diversification. Public initiatives aimed at strengthening MSMEs, improving employability, and attracting investment have helped cultivate a business-friendly environment conducive to sustainable growth.
Guanajuato as a Hub for Innovation and Employment
With continued expansion in high-impact industries such as automotive and agri-food, Guanajuato is solidifying its role as a key driver of Mexico’s national development. The state also ranked 10th in national cumulative annual growth, underscoring its momentum in fostering innovation, job creation, and regional value chains.
