With an investment of MXN 160 million, Mexican company Grupo Indumil inaugurated a new production plant in the state of Hidalgo, a facility focused on the development and manufacturing of ballistic solutions under international standards.

The industrial complex, which began operations in May 2024, integrates production lines for automotive armor, ballistic glass, and body protection systems. With this addition, the company strengthens a specialized manufacturing platform centered on security and protection technologies.

During the inauguration, José Llanos, General Director of the company, said the investment forms part of Grupo Indumil’s growth strategy as it marks three decades of operations in the sector.

“Thirty years of history can be measured on a calendar, but in reality they are defined by effort, difficult decisions, and by the people who have built this project,” Llanos said.

A technology development platform in Mexico

Llanos explained that the new facility not only increases the company’s production capacity, but also serves as a platform for technological development in Mexico, where ballistic solutions are designed, researched, and manufactured.

“This is where the solution is developed and manufactured. These are proudly Mexican products,” he said, adding that the company’s approach is based on research and development to combine materials and technologies capable of delivering more efficient and lighter protection systems.

The decision to locate the plant in Hidalgo was driven by logistics and industrial criteria, particularly its connectivity to the northern Valley of Mexico and its proximity to Felipe Ángeles International Airport, infrastructure that supports industrial operations and future expansion opportunities.

Sustainable operation and international expansion

The complex also incorporates a sustainable operating model through the use of renewable energy, rainwater harvesting systems, and controlled industrial waste management processes.

Grupo Indumil currently maintains commercial presence in 25 Mexican states and has started to strengthen its international reach. During 2025, its solutions were sold in five countries and showcased at MILIPOL Paris, one of the most important international trade fairs focused on security and police equipment.

With this industrial investment, Grupo Indumil aims to consolidate a specialized production base in Mexico and strengthen its position in the ballistic solutions market both nationally and internationally.
