As part of the initiatives to boost economic development in McAllen, Texas, the McAllen Nearshoring Campus Industrial Park, developed by Grupo Commodities Integrated Logistics (CIL), has been inaugurated.
The industrial project represents an investment of $120 million through various phases on a 473,400 square meter plot of land. Industries, manufacturers, and logistics companies can establish themselves on lots of up to 121,000 square meters.
Joaquín Spamer, president and founder of Grupo CIL, emphasized the location between Idela and Ware Road as a strategic point for business relocation. The site is close to U.S. Customs offices with easy access to highways, airports, rail lines, and seaports that facilitate foreign trade processes from South Texas.
Competitive Advantages
"This new park brings a crucial concept; nearshoring, which aligns perfectly with the goal of bringing production and manufacturing closer to home. It is about strategically positioning companies in our region," he stated.
"With this inauguration, the competitive advantages of South Texas increase, which currently has over 1.588 million square meters of high-quality, ready-to-build space in cities such as Mission, Pharr, Edinburg, Weslaco, Harlingen, Brownsville; this is the moment to promote ourselves as the largest supply chain in North America," he added.
At the project kickoff, Ralph García, Vice President of International Business Recruitment at the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (McAllen EDC), spoke about the new opportunities and jobs coming to the city. This message was echoed by Javier Villalobos, Mayor of McAllen, and Roy Rodríguez, City Manager, who also highlighted the region's growth in recent years.
