The medical device industry maintains its leadership in Baja California, after the Flex Medical company announced an investment of 9 million dollars for an expansion project.
The above was announced by the General Manager of the plant, Sanjay Maiti, during a tour of the facilities together with Guillermo Martínez, Manager of Imports and Exports, and the head of the State Secretariat of Sustainable Economy and Tourism (SEST) , Mario Escobedo Carignan.
Flex Medical executives explained that this investment is aimed at the construction of an Engineering Laboratory, a power co-generation project, water treatment and reuse infrastructure, as well as a new warehouse.
With this expansion, said Sanjay Maiti, the company will be generating at least 100 new direct jobs, showing the commitment that Flex Medical has to remain strong on this frontier.
The General Manager recalled that the company was established in Tijuana in 1994, with the objective of manufacturing disposable medical devices, today having an important list of clients of the most important brands worldwide.
"Flex Medical is a 532 thousand square foot plant where more than 3,500 employees currently work, whom we value in the first instance for their loyalty to the company," said Maiti.
Meanwhile, the manager of Imports and Exports, Guillermo Martínez, stressed that among the products manufactured by Flex Medical in Tijuana are catheters, devices for the treatment of vision, syringes, plastic parts for medical devices, feeding bags for pathological treatment, among others.
"Flex Medical is distinguished by its experience in design, manufacturing, distribution and services, and is a global leader as a manufacturer of catheters that are made in the world," he said.
For his part, Secretary Mario Escobedo Carignan congratulated the company for its commitment to responsible water management, and the current sanitary measures that the company is carrying out, as well as the contributions and donations it has made for the care of the Baja Californians, faced with the health contingency.
And it is that during these months of pandemic, Flex Medical has issued various donations of personal protection supplies such as face masks, gloves, antibacterial gel, among articles, both to its collaborators and to public health institutions.
"The expansions of companies in the entity have contributed to the fact that since January of this 2020, in Baja California about 37,000 new jobs have been generated, of which 60% correspond to Tijuana," he concluded.
