The city of Edinburg, Texas, has been named the most accessible college town in the United States, home to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) campus, according to the "Best College Towns and Cities in America" study by WalletHub.

Workforce

Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr highlighted the impact of this recognition on the development of new professionals and the growth of the workforce. "Edinburg is a place that offers high-quality, affordable education and a great quality of life. We look forward to welcoming new residents and students. Our city embodies exceptional values, and this recognition is a testament to the strong relationship we have with the university."

Higher Education

The study considered 415 cities in the United States with student populations exceeding 7,500 students. It analyzed and compared the costs of higher education, housing fees, services, food, and recreational activities. WalletHub also gave two other notable mentions in the same study to the South Texas region, where Edinburg is located: Brownsville secured the third place, and McAllen claimed the fifth place.

"We are immensely proud of the collaborative efforts made by UTRGV and our vibrant community, which have contributed to this acknowledgment of Edinburg as the most accessible college town in the country. This strengthens the region and adds competitive advantages," concluded the mayor.
