Manuel Aguilar, Chief Operating Officer of Daimay, was joined by Manolo Jiménez, Governor of Coahuila, Claudio Bres Garza, Secretary of Economy, and other company executives for the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony. Responding to a surge in demand for its products, Daimay Automotive Interior has laid the foundation for the construction of its VI and VII plants.
The primary goal of these new projects is to boost the company's production capacity, catering to clients such as General Motors at the local level and Tesla in the United States.
Electric vehicles
Over 40 different products will be manufactured for these automakers, including notable items such as headrests, visors, armrests, and consoles for electric vehicles. Among the models, the Equinox and Blazer from GM and Tesla's new pickup stand out.
In this context, Manolo Jiménez, the state's governor, expressed gratitude to the company's executives for placing trust in the state for investment. He emphasized that the region boasts the finest workforce and potential for future projects.
Jiménez argued that Ramos Arizpe has become the driving force behind industrial development in the state of Coahuila. He highlighted that it's no coincidence that the Asian company has already inaugurated five production centers in less than 10 years.
Employment in Coahuila
Manuel Aguilar, Daimay's Chief Operating Officer, affirmed that the new plants will be fully operational by the third quarter of the current year. He emphasized that this expansion will bring the company's employment in Coahuila to 5,200, a figure comparable to top-tier companies like General Motors.
Finally, Claudio Bres Garza, Secretary of Economy for Coahuila, acknowledged the efforts of Coahuila's workers, stating that they are a crucial factor for more companies to invest in the region. He shared that over 60 companies invested in the area in 2023 and anticipated surpassing that number this year.
