Port Laredo Texas' Trade Mission Wraps Up Successful Tour in Monterrey
The Monterrey Commercial Mission, an initiative by Port Laredo Texas, concluded on Tuesday, January 31, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, with discussions involving local authorities and representatives from various industry clusters in the region.
This two-day working tour aimed to strengthen ties between the two states, enlightening attendees about the collaborative commercial advantages present in Laredo, Texas. The objective is to enhance business prospects and strategically plan for the future, particularly with a focus on nearshoring.
On the final day, U.S. officials visited the facilities of the Park for Research and Technological Innovation to gain insights into the history, innovation, and other pertinent aspects of manufacturing in Nuevo León.
The tour kicked off at the Park for Research and Technological Innovation (PIIT), where they explored the Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer of the Government of Nuevo León, the facilities of the Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing, and the Industrial Innovation Center in Artificial Intelligence.
Later, they met with Emmanuel Loo, Deputy Secretary of Investments at the Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León, and representatives from key industry clusters in the region, including aerospace, automotive, and agri-food.
Tour Initiation
The tour commenced on Monday, January 30, with an event featuring the personnel from the Northeast Mexican Council of Foreign Trade (COMCE), state authorities, and local entrepreneurs. The gathering included meetings with the Mayor of Laredo and officials from the U.S. city.
Subsequently, the Laredo Delegation met with executives and partners of the Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo León (Caintra).
Port Laredo's Commercial Mission is set to continue in the state of Querétaro, with plans to visit Mexico City and Guadalajara in 2025.
