BorgWarner expands its plant in Coahuila; manufacture components for the automotive industry

BorgWarner celebrated the expansion of its plant in Saltillo, Coahuila , located in the industrial zone of the city in Colonia Virreyes. This, in order to promote the manufacture of electrified components for the automotive industry .

Lilian Sustaita, plant manager, said that the goal is to have a catalog of more environmentally friendly items, since the company's vision is based on carrying out its processes responsibly to start the transition from the automotive industry towards electrification.

He also commented that with this project 450 new jobs will be generated and a new training program will also begin for employees who are already working in the factory.

The amount of investment will reach 47 million dollars . The complex will have an area of ​​17,800 square meters and the new production lines will be focused on the specialized manufacturing of starter coils, gas circulation coolers and engine thermostats. 

“We are happy because we already have four plants in Coahuila, where we have stood out as one of the most competitive companies and we have found a qualified workforce that is prepared for all the challenges that the automotive industry demands. We cannot wait for December to start our operations”, added Lilian Sustaita. 

For her part, Isabelle McKenzie, general director of corporate BorgWarner , stressed that Mexico belongs to one of the most strategic areas for her company.

He said that in more than 130 years  they have been able to maintain themselves as one of the market leaders due to the quality of their products, such as transformers and mobility products. 

The opportunity was also given to thank the state authorities for their support in carrying out the expansion project and reaffirmed that they will continue to be successful because they are in one of the most competitive entities in the country. 

Finally, Claudio Bres Garza, Coahuila's secretary of economy, highlighted the entity's performance so far in 2023, since they have managed to close 24 investment projects, including new plants and expansions.

“We are very happy to receive this kind of companies. BorgWarner  is one of the few companies that maintains a low percentage of staff turnover, which demonstrates its sense of responsibility to its employees and the community in general," the official concluded.
