Bajío Logistics Gateway to Position Celaya as a Key Transportation and Distribution Hub

State and federal authorities have signed the Coordination Agreement to launch the Bajío Logistics Gateway Economic Development Hub for Well-being, a project aimed at positioning the region as a key connection point between major national and international markets.

Located in Celaya, at the heart of Mexico’s logistics corridor, this hub will leverage its strategic geographic location, highway and rail connectivity, and Guanajuato’s solid industrial and manufacturing base. The goal is to consolidate it as a center for logistics, advanced manufacturing, and distribution that links production centers, ports, borders, and global markets.

A Project with National Reach

The Bajío Logistics Gateway is the only one among Mexico’s 15 Economic Development Hubs for Well-being whose main objective is to maximize its location from a logistics perspective. The plan includes the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle to manage its development, along with the installation and modernization of productive and service infrastructure to attract both domestic and foreign investment.

Key goals include creating formal, well-paid jobs, ensuring equal labor opportunities, and integrating care facilities such as childcare centers and lactation rooms. Additionally, it will promote orderly and sustainable urban planning for participating municipalities.

Boosting Strategic Sectors

This hub will be part of the national reindustrialization strategy with greater domestic content, as outlined in the Mexico Plan and the 2025–2030 National Development Plan. Its focus will be on attracting investment in key sectors such as automotive, aerospace, agribusiness, information technologies, and clean energy, strengthening the competitiveness of both the state and the country.

With its official inclusion in the national map of Economic Development Hubs for Well-being, the Bajío Logistics Gateway is set to become a driver of investment, job creation, and opportunity expansion, reinforcing Guanajuato’s role as an internationally relevant logistics player.
