Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence arm of Alibaba Group, has launched its first cloud region in Mexico to provide services for businesses, startups, developers, and organizations.

Chen Yusen, General Manager for Latin America at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International, stated that the Mexico region was established to address Alibaba Group’s cloud data scaling challenges while driving artificial intelligence, customized solutions for clients, digital infrastructure, enterprise applications, and a special program for SMEs focused on cost-efficiency, local support, and security.

“We are not only bringing cutting-edge technology to support local businesses but also building an inclusive ecosystem together with our partners, developers, and customers to foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth in Latin America,” he said.

With this expansion, the company now has 87 availability zones across 29 global regions, strengthening its position as a leader in the global cloud market.

Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), highlighted that this is a strategic investment that will benefit both local and international businesses. He emphasized that the infrastructure will be key for more industries in Mexico to access cutting-edge technologies in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

Alibaba Cloud plans to roll out a series of local support programs to advance Mexico’s digital ecosystem. These initiatives include talent development through partnerships with universities and local institutions, support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises and developers, and community engagement activities.
