AHMSA acquires pelletizer plant

The Company Altos Hornos de
Mexico (AHMSA,) the largest Steel Company in the country, confirmed the
purchase of the pelletizer plant Reynolds Pellet, located in Indiana, United
States, by 15 million dollars, same that intends to disassemble and move to
Monclova, where the company has more presence.
“AHMSA, will be in charge of disassemble the equipment, which will be
shipped gradually to Monclova to be incorporated to the Pelletizer Plant
located in Steel Company 2 and to its spare parts park,” detailed the company
in a release.
The steel company announced
the acquisition of this plant that will be added to its portfolio to expand
their specialized assets network in the depuration of steel to reinforce and
assure in a long term the provision of the mineral for steel plants.
“With the offer of 15
million dollars accepted by the Curt, AHMSA allocated such unit in excellent
state settled since 2014, and will proceed to its disassembly to move the
assets to Monclova,” said the release.
Given the similitude
between the Reynolds plant and the pelletizer plant from the company, the
operation resulted highly profitable and convenient to AHMSA and for its
subsidiary Minera del Norte, iron producer, given that by a low cost little
used products were acquired and new spare parts that will facilitate the
increase production plant that encourages the company in mines and steel
companies.
On the other hand, AHMSA
will open space to train 2,500 youngsters as apprentices, joining the federal
program Jovenes Construyendo el Futuro (Youngsters
Building the Future,) encouraged by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security
(STPS, by its Spanish initials.)
The president of the AHMS
Administration Council, Alonso Ancira underlined that the intention is to
retain at least half of youngsters after being trained; therefore, he
considered that the program is an opportunity for companies and youngsters
obtain mutual benefits.
For “seven years we apply
in our units the Program Sombras
(Shadows,) through which we a young people besides an experienced worker for
him to learn and it was very successful,” said the directive proving that the
company is already familiarized with the apprentice figure.
