The accommodation offer in the city of Mission, Texas, will increase by 36% by 2024 with the opening of two new hotels through the Ocean Gate Hospitality company, which will invest 25 million dollars.

According to the Mission Economic Development Corporation, these are the Avid and Candlewood Suites hotels that will operate with a dual brand and Residence Inn by Marriott. Their construction will begin in January and March, respectively.

Economic Development and Tourism

These complexes will be located next to the Mission Event Center, stimulating economic development and tourism. Each hotel will have 110 rooms, providing a total of 220 beds, thus increasing the lodging availability in Mission from 603 rooms to 823.

Teclo García, CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation in Texas, mentioned, "The economic impact of these hotels extends far beyond accommodation," projecting the creation of 40 new jobs.

Direct Impact

"They are economic multipliers; visitors staying there will generate more hotel occupancy taxes, elevate Mission's profile as a destination city, and have a direct and indirect impact on the local economy by dining, shopping, and spending their money in Mission," he added.

Nitin Kasan, Operations Manager of Ocean Gate Hospitality, stated that with the opening of these hotels, they reinforce the commitment to "Provide exceptional hospitality in Texas and, at the same time, be a tool for economic prosperity in the region."
