Nuevo León, Mexico – In a significant move to
expand its presence in Mexico, Terex
Genie, the U.S.-based company specializing in the manufacturing of
construction platforms and lifts, has invested $140 million in its new plant
located in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León. The state-of-the-art facility is set
to employ 1,500 people and will focus on the production of three types of
personnel lifts and construction platforms.
The inauguration of the new plant was attended by
the Governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, who emphasized the pivotal role of
companies like Terex Genie in making Nuevo León the leader in job creation.
"Nuevo León is different; so many companies,
like Genie and the Terex Group, have come to us, demanding renewable energy,
treated water, roads, and healthcare services. This compels us as a government
to take the next step, ensuring that no company leaves us due to security,
mobility, or infrastructure concerns," stated Governor García.
With a record-breaking projected investment of
$37.5 billion by the end of October, Governor García highlighted the commitment
of companies to the region. He affirmed, "All the companies that have
promised to come have consolidated. None have canceled due to infrastructure or
service-related issues."
Jeremy Rife, Vice President of Operations at Terex Genie, expressed excitement about
establishing and growing their team and operations in Nuevo León. "We have
a state-of-the-art facility and a highly skilled team in Nuevo León that has
built a strong culture around our Zero Harm Safety program and corporate
values. And this is just the beginning," Rife emphasized.
Iván Rivas, Secretary of Economy for the state,
underscored the positive impact of new companies on job creation. "New
businesses contribute to creating more and better jobs, an area where we lead,"
remarked Secretary Rivas.
According to the state government's announcement,
from January to September 2023, Nuevo León has generated 89,000 jobs, making it
the leading state in job creation nationwide during this period. The success of
Terex Genie's investment further solidifies Nuevo León's position as a thriving
hub for industrial and economic growth.
