Samot installs a new machining production line for Eaton in Guanajuato

Samot Mexico started, at its plant located in Silao, Guanajuato, a new project for Eaton , its main business partner, which, in turn, is a final customer of Ford .

An investment of more than five million dollars was made in this project , in addition to adding equipment similar to those already in the plant for this new production line , which will generate 60 direct and 20 indirect jobs .

A transition team was appointed within the plant to adapt the processes that Eaton required to manufacture its parts.

Rogerio Bailoni Mezadri, director of Samot Mexico , said that the Brazilian company was between three options for its installation: Toluca, Aguascalientes and Guanajuat or, they decided on the latter option due to the opportunities that Guanajuato Puerto Interior promised to consolidate itself as a logistics center of excellence. globally.

“Puerto Interior was a land with nothing, but the vision with which it was built and consolidated until what it is now has been part of the growth that is also reflected in companies such as Samot, since we were the third to settle in this park. industrial and one of the first in machining in Mexico ”, he recalled.

He said that, for a Tier 2 like Samot , looking for business partners has become a more strategic job, since for Tier 3 it is difficult to maintain a competitive status and position in the market.

“ It is important for the team to make a difference and exceed what we have planned, as it was not easy for our company as it cost us many hours and effort. Seeing this consolidated success today fills us with pride because we see a different scenario and that we have grown in all areas ”, he commented.

MACHINING PROCESS OF EXCELLENCE

Frederico Zanuchi, commercial manager of Samot Mexico , mentioned that the machining of parts that will be carried out in this new area will be part of a part of the engines that work with diesel.

The equipment that will be added to this area for Eaton operates automatically and has the latest technology available from the company at a global level, which is why it is an important launch for Samot Mexico .

The machining process that they will carry out consists of producing the pieces with greater detail and tighter tolerance. Approximately six pieces per machine will be produced, adding production speed as one of its competitive advantages.

"Samot has extensive experience in the production of machined parts and we have a great interest in doing business with clients like Eaton, not only in Mexico, but also in Brazil, hence the interest in working together."

He described machining as a market that is constantly growing, especially since, as a result of the health crisis and the change in rules in foreign trade for the import and export of products, the machining that is carried out at the regional level took on special importance. Therefore, Samot  , as the main supplier of machining throughout the world, sees a favorable outlook.

"This is an opportunity not only for the Tier 2 that are dedicated to manufacturing parts by machining, it is for the entire supply chain, since it will take a significant upturn for the automotive sector," he said.

In 2009, the Brazilian company Samot México , settled in Guanajuato Puerto Interior at the request of its main clients located in Brazil and Mexico. The plant was installed at this point in order to take advantage of the momentum of the industry in the region and thereby attract more potential customers.

The origin of the company dates back to 1960 in Brazil and the plant in Guanajuato represents the company's fourth and the first installed outside its country.
