The project will generate 500 direct jobs and strengthen technological connectivity in the northern region of the country.
Nuevo León as a global technology platform
During the inauguration, Betsabé Rocha Nieto, Secretary of Economy for the state of Nuevo León, highlighted that the expansion of companies like Equinix reinforces the state’s vision of an economy driven by innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
“Equinix represents a commitment to business digitalization and energy efficiency. This type of investment strengthens Nuevo León’s position as a world-class technology hub,” stated Rocha Nieto.

Digital infrastructure for North America
The MO2 Data Center is part of Equinix’s global network of more than 270 data centers worldwide, with operations in Mexico since 2019. The facility will enable companies and institutions to accelerate their digital transformation by providing cloud, interconnection, and critical information storage services.
The first phase of the project began operations in September 2025, with expansion plans through 2030, positioning Nuevo León as a strategic interconnection node for North America.
The event was attended by Arquelle Shaw, President of Equinix Americas; Eduardo Carvalho, Managing Director for Latin America; Amet Novillo, Managing Director for Mexico; Arnoldo Padilla, Border Welfare Coordinator; and César Garza, Mayor of Apodaca.
Originally from the United States, Equinix specializes in digital infrastructure, data interconnection, and cloud services, with operations in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. This investment reflects Nuevo León’s technological growth and its consolidation as a preferred location for global digital investment.
