Rongtai Industrial Development to build project’s second stage in Guanajuato

More than eight months after opening its plant at Las Colinas Leon Industrial Park, Rongtai Group is already planning to develop the second stage of their project in Mexico.

This Asian company specialized in the design and manufacture of molds, aluminum alloy smelting and precision machining; arrived to the country aiming to provide more attention and service to customers in North America.

“The commitment and quality level of the company was a trigger through which our customers were demanding more attention in the NAFTA market, and then the company decided to invest in Guanajuato,” said Jorge Lagunas, director of the plant Rongtai Industrial Development.

This auto-parts sector Chinese company, invested in the State about 20 million dollars for its first stage and have a production area of 18,000 m²; while for the second expansion stage it is planned to start the construction in 2019. “Probably in the second stage the investment will be higher, it will have almost the same measures than the plant, but the machinery range to be installed will be bigger than the one we have already installed,” he emphasized.

PLANT ADVANCES

Currently, Rongtai Industrial Development is fulfilling two projects for its Bosch customer.  These designs are “steering housing,” products that go inside the direction steering box.  The development plan of these pieces started in September 2017 and will be exported to the American market.

Although right now its customers are abroad, they expect that next year they could supply the buyers in the country.

“The location is one of the competitive advantages, because we are closer to our customers in the Bajio and the service can be quicker than expected, the mobility we have is benefic for us,” he said.

In addition, they have been developing other three projects and it is planned that they will start sending them to its customers next year.

And in order for its raw material being more efficient, the Chinese company is trying to locate more suppliers inside the country.  Currently, they have suppliers from Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Leon.

“We want local companies to make an effort and be more focused in processes specialized in different sectors of the automotive branch, many remain stuck for the technological level they can offer, but we believe that it is an opportunity area in which they can be developed,” he said.

PERSONNEL TRAINING

At the moment, the company has 110 employees, but on its first stage they want to reach 220 collaborators.  While that for its second stage they seek to duplicate that number.

In order for their workers have the knowledge and required skills, they are trained through specialists in smelting, development and design other countries have.

“Those are specialized techniques which have been perfected in China and that we have brought to shape personnel.  Specialists and our workers are working together, establishing objectives and fulfilling exams to know what the worker has learned,” he explained.
