Japanese automotive supplier Musashi Auto Parts México has inaugurated a major facility expansion in San Luis Potosí, backed by an investment exceeding 737million MXN ($40+ million USD). The expansion project will create 300 new direct jobs while scaling local production capacity for next-generation hybrid vehicle components.

The upgraded complex integrates advanced manufacturing systems designed to satisfy the specialized engineering and tolerance standards required by automotive OEMs shifting toward hybrid and electrified mobility.

Strengthening High-Tech Capabilities for Hybrid Mobility

The multi-million-dollar deployment reinforces San Luis Potosí’s strategic standing within the global automotive value chain. By incorporating modern tooling and automated assembly lines, Musashi expands its operational scope to meet rising demand from automakers transitioning their platforms toward hybrid technology.

Key operational highlights of the project include:

  • Hybrid Vehicle Focus: Specialized manufacturing lines for high-precision drivetrain and transmission components tailored for hybrid platforms.
  • Workforce Development: Creation of 300 skilled technical jobs aligned with advanced manufacturing, quality control, and industrial engineering.
  • Supply Chain Integration: Deeper engagement with regional suppliers to support North American automotive electrification programs.

Expanding Japanese Industrial Footprint in Central Mexico

The inauguration ceremony was attended by state officials representing San Luis Potosí Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, highlighting the region's strong foreign direct investment (FDI) momentum in high-tech automotive manufacturing.

"The incorporation of advanced technology for hybrid vehicles creates meaningful opportunities to broaden local manufacturing capabilities and bolster specialized industry expertise," state economic representatives noted during the event.

A subsidiary of Japan-based Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd. (founded in 1938), Musashi is a global tier-1 supplier specializing in transmission systems, differential assemblies, gears, and steering/suspension components for automotive and motorcycle markets.

Established in March 2012 within the Tres Naciones Industrial Park in San Luis Potosí, the Mexican subsidiary launched serial production of steering components in 2014 before adding gear and differential assembly lines. Globally, Musashi operates a network of 35 production and sales centers across 14 countries, supplying major global automakers across North America, Europe, and Asia.
