Light vehicle exports increase in 2021

In 2021, exports of light vehicles in Mexico was 2,706,980 units , which represents an increase of almost 1%, compared to 2020, which was 2,681,806 cars.

According to the monthly report of the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles presented by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the automotive brands that had an increase in shipments of cars abroad were: Audi  with 137,740 vehicles The BMW Group  shipped 65,834 units Ford of Mexico  shipped 214,424 Honda  exported 139,349 cars Kia  had a total of 168,360 Nissan  with 390,501 units and Toyota  closed with 220,126 vehicles 

Likewise, last year the total production of light vehicles in Mexico had a decrease of 2%, since a total of 2,979,276 units were produced from January to December ; while in 2020, 3,040,178 cars were assembled in the same period.

Despite this decline, the auto companies that improved their assembly metrics were: Audi  with 137,500 units; The BMW Group built 68,919 vehicles; Ford generated 218,289 cars; Honda produced 152,187; Kia ended 2021 with 219,400 cars; Nissan assembled 536,323 and Toyota manufactured 222,346 units.
