Safran will conduct the final assembly of its LEAP 1A engines, used in Airbus aircraft, in Mexico. This makes Mexico the third country to host this operation, alongside the United States and France.

Among Safran’s major upcoming projects is the assembly of 100 LEAP 1A engines by 2027, a collaborative effort between its Mexican and French teams.

“This strategic decision by the Safran group is largely based on the trust earned through the consistent and persistent performance demonstrated over 15 years by SAEM,” stated Marcial Suárez, General Manager of Safran Aircraft Engines Mexico.

The expansion of Safran’s Querétaro facilities entailed an investment of 720 million pesos and the creation of 128 highly specialized jobs.

During the inauguration event, Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón thanked Safran for its confidence in the region. He reaffirmed efforts to attract further investments and create more jobs, emphasizing that formal employment and collaboration with the federal government improve Querétaro’s quality of life.

"In the air, there is no room for mistakes. That’s why we fly so confidently, knowing these are Safran engines. Be proud of what you do because part of Querétaro is flying worldwide," he added.

France’s ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione, highlighted the inauguration as a testament to the shared commitment between France and Mexico to build a future of cooperation, technology, and innovation.

She also underscored the significance of the aerospace sector in bilateral relations, particularly in advancing sustainable aviation.

“Mexico’s invitation to France as the guest of honor at FAMEX 2023 further demonstrated our two nations’ commitment to the aerospace sector. Querétaro, in particular, has proven to be a strategic logistical and industrial platform for aerospace,” Borione concluded.
