Global industrial automation leader KUKA Robotics has established its first Innovation and Technology Development Center in Mexico, backed by a $1million USD investment. Located within the Research and Technological Innovation Park (PIIT) in Apodaca, Nuevo León, the center will focus on spearheading advanced automation, artificial intelligence (AI), industrial welding, and mobile robotics solutions.

Thestrategic launch coincides with the 30th anniversary of KUKA’s operations in Mexico, further expanding the company’s technological infrastructure to support manufacturers, academic institutions, and tech partners across northern Mexico.

Driving Industry 4.0 and Specialized Talent Training

Equipped with advanced laboratories and specialized robotic cells, the new facility is designed to bridge the gap between cutting-edge engineering and industrial application. Key functions of the center include:

  • Proof of Concept (PoC): Enabling regional manufacturers to test complex automation systems before factory deployment.
  • Specialized Training: Providing technical programs and upskilling for engineers, technicians, and operators in robotics and advanced manufacturing.
  • Collaborative Ecosystem: Serving as a collaborative nexus connecting KUKA with northern universities, technology partners, and industrial supply chains.

"This new center will make it possible to run proofs of concept, train talent, develop solutions for businesses, and connect KUKA with universities, technology partners, and manufacturers throughout the northern region," highlighted Betsabé Rocha,Secretary of Economy for Nuevo León, during the inauguration ceremony.

Advanced Automation for Automotive, Aerospace, and Logistics

With decades of global expertise in industrial robotics, mobile automation, and smart manufacturing, KUKA’s technological ecosystem serves a broad spectrum ofhigh-demand sectors, including automotive, aerospace, logistics, and medical devices.

From heavy-duty industrial robotic arms to collaborative robots ("cobots") engineered to work safely alongside human operators, the new Apodaca facility reinforces Nuevo León’s position as a premier advanced manufacturing hub in Latin America.
