Judd Wire, Inc. has started operations on a new production line at Vesta Industrial Park in Aguascalientes, marking the second phase of its expansion project with a USD 32 million investment. The launch consolidates Sumitomo Electric’s presence in Mexico and reaffirms the state’s competitiveness in advanced manufacturing.
More Capacity and Specialized Jobs
The expansion—by the high-tech cable manufacturer serving the automotive industry—will add over 40 specialized jobs, complementing the 200 positions created during the first stage. With this new line, the company boosts its production capacity to meet the rising global demand for electrical components in vehicles, driven by electromobility and energy efficiency.
During the inauguration, Fuminobu Furukawa, President of Judd Wire, highlighted Mexico’s attractiveness as an investment destination due to its stability, strategic location, and skilled workforce. He emphasized that Aguascalientes offers security, efficiency, and labor quality, conditions that encourage further investment and innovation within the automotive ecosystem.
The expansion strengthens Sumitomo Electric’s global supply chain, one of Japan’s most prominent industrial conglomerates, and reinforces Aguascalientes’ position as a key hub for automotive suppliers. The new operations will enable shorter delivery times, higher regional content, and greater operational resilience in response to shifts in North American market demand.
For Aguascalientes, this project contributes to qualified employment, technology transfer, and economic benefits for local suppliers. The arrival of this second stage consolidates an export-oriented cluster, enhances productivity, and aligns the state with the ongoing vehicle electrification trend, where cables and harnesses are critical inputs.
The announcement aligns with Mexico’s industrial policy vision focused on trust, innovation, and sustainability. Through corporate partnerships like Judd Wire and Sumitomo Electric, Aguascalientes strengthens its position as a strategic hub for Japanese investment in Mexico, fostering opportunities in R&D, quality, and technical training for local talent.
