Industrial Expansion in Guanajuato: Major Investments Drive Economic Growth and Job Creation

The industrial parks in the state of Guanajuato have been instrumental in attracting 162 investment projects since the current state administration began in September 2018. These projects represent a capital investment of over $9 billion and have created more than 64,700 direct jobs.
According to Ramón Alfaro Gómez, the head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Economic Development of Guanajuato (SDES), there are 6,800 hectares dedicated to productive activities across 46 parks distributed in 17 municipalities in Guanajuato. Some of the notable investment projects include those from companies such as Ford, Michelin, Toyota, Continental, Honda, Mazda, Nestlé-Purina, Volkswagen, ZKW, Bosch, Sailun Tire, Forvia-Hella, MD Elektronic, and Kirchhoff, among others.
These investments continue to diversify and strengthen various sectors, including:
- Automotive and auto parts
- New technologies
- Plastics
- Metalworking
- Services
- Agro-foods
- Leather and footwear
- Home appliances
- Textiles and clothing
- General industry
- Construction
- Ceramics and materials
- Pharmaceuticals
- Cosmetics
The parks are located in the following municipalities: Abasolo, Apaseo el Grande, Celaya, Comonfort, Doctor Mora, Irapuato, León, Manuel Doblado, Ocampo, Romita, Salamanca, Salvatierra, San José de Iturbide, San Luis de la Paz, San Miguel de Allende, Silao, Uriangato, Valle de Santiago, and Villagrán.
The State Government aims to create conditions for the development of new investment projects by diversifying Guanajuato's economy, spreading companies across the entire state," the SDES said in a statement.
The statement added that by developing new industrial hubs, the local economy is strengthened, creating greater demand for services and fostering new economic opportunities that benefit the residents of the regions with industrial potential in Guanajuato.
