The industrial construction sector shows a significant level of dynamism
in Mexico due to its competitive benefits. Azucena Domínguez, CFO of Market
Analysis, reported that at the beginning of 2022, 88 buildings are under
construction in Mexico, amounting to a total of 13.8 million square feet.
At the end of 2021, 61.1% of new buildings were used for manufacturing
purposes; while 38.9%, were for logistics. "By 2022, the logistics
industry is expected to regain lost ground and reach 45%, approximately,"
noted Azucena Domínguez.
The leading country in investment in new buildings for the industrial
sector is the United States, with 39.4% share. As for the developers
responsible for the new projects, Finsa stands out with 1,060,000 SF, MPA Group
with 917,000, and Prologis with 837,000.
