IKOR Mexico, leader in manufacture of electronic circuits

Like the conquerors that arrived to Spain and America, but know within the digital and technological era IKOR arrived exclusively in Jalisco in 1998 to conquer the markets of the electronic circuits industry.

IKOR was born in 1981 in San Sebastian, (Basque Country,) Spain from the mind of its two innovative founders Miguel Angel Sierra and Jesus Inurrita.

17 years after to make the decision of crossing the Atlantic Ocean before the opening of the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA,) with the possibility of approaching even more to its biggest customer the United States of America.

David Gil Jaca, general director of IKOR Mexico, said that one of the main reasons for staying in Guadalajara was the sector’s growth.

“IKOR settled in the city of Guadalajara for being one of the reasons in which the most important companies of the electronic sector was locating, generating an area of great knowledge in electronic manufacturing.  This location, currently allow us giving an optimum service to those customers that pretend to embrace the American market,” said the directive of Basque origin.

IKOR Mexico CEO detailed what they produce and the different solutions they observe for its customers.

“We offer comprehensive services of design and manufacture of electronic circuits, (EMS) including complete solutions of supply chain to industrial and technological companies’ leaders worldwide,” said the directive.

Additionally he specified that they are addressed to all those sectors where electronics is the core for the functioning of a final product.  Electronics transversality has made the company offer support to different sectors such as automotive, medical, industrial lighting, refrigeration, or consumption.

Among the certifications the Jalisco plant has are: ISO-9001, ISO-14001, IATF 19649, and ISO 13485.

Gil Jaca underlined their human capital is trained and follows the alignments of quality standards.

“Our workforce is qualified based on the quality standards of the electronic industry and certified according to standards IATF 16949:2016 for the automotive industry, ISO 13485 for the manufacture of medical equipment, as well as ISO 9001:2015 for industrial equipment.”

And the kind of training for employees is developed with a career or formation plan according to the case.  For example, for the production personnel they have formation and certification plans for each position and specialty.

Despite the first founded Factory from San Sebastian in Spain and the one from Jalisco, there is another one Suzhou in China, these points are considered fundamental by David Gil, since due to the geographical arrangement includes the key markets.

From all strategic points worldwide the one they are willing to expand and it is a priority is Mexico, which currently has 320 direct and indirect employees, seeking to increase the human capital and grow the plant surface from 4500 m² to 6000 m² or also the possibility of acquiring a new industrial building in the area.

Among the benefits the businessmen highlighted and addition a plus compared with the competition is that they detect the needs of each customer and specialists provide follow-up the order.

“Definitely our center of I+D IKOR TECHNOLOGY CENTER is one of the most differentiators aspects IKOR has in front of its competitors.  We have a multidisciplinary team of engineers in Spain as well as in Mexico, which allow us offering solutions tailored to our customers’ needs, supporting them in the entire life cycle of the product; from product definition to specifications, through the design and implementation, to final validation,” he said.

Currently, IKOR Mexico commercialized 150 thousand units per week, delivering on time to its customers.
