Within the framework of the 57th Anniversary of Ford Cuautitlán , a year of production of Mustang Mach-E was celebrated , the first electric unit of the brand made in Mexico for the rest of the world.

It should be noted that it is the first plant to mass-produce an electric vehicle in our country. And since 2020, the factory has assembled up to 305 units per day , adding to today, 60,988 Mach-E Mustangs that are exported to more than 20 countries .

Among the main recognitions it has globally, are the Guinness Record for lower energy consumption, Best Compact SUV in its segment according to J .D Power and Electric Vehicle of the year (2021) by Car and Driver magazine .

Luz Elena del Castillo, president and CEO of Ford of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Central America and the Caribbean, declared that the success of this model is thanks to the talent in Ford of Mexico , which revolutionized the country's automotive industry.

“To be part of the new era of mobility in the world, little by little we are preparing so that 40% and 50% of our sales to the United States are completely electric models. The transformation of Ford Cuautitlán to produce this new model is just a clear example of this, "he added.

THE FACTORY OF THE FUTURE

To produce the Mustang Mach-E , Ford Cuautitlán had a renewal process of approximately 80% in all its infrastructure.

The most important thing was the integration of Manufacturing 4.0, which consists of the digitization of processes with sensors, data analysis systems, use of robots, interconnectivity between machines and procedures throughout the entire production chain.

This plant became the first of the North American company at a global level, to have an assembly process for lithium electric batteries with electronic and leak test cells that validate their complete sealing and operation.

Another aspect that has made Ford Cuautitlán be considered the plant of the future is the priority it has given to caring for the environment and the high standards it has established to reduce water consumption as much as possible.

It currently has a water treatment plant, which by capturing 15.5 million liters of rainwater, has saved 150 million liters in all its production processes.

MORE THAN FIVE DECADES OF TALENT AND QUALITY

It was in 1964 when Ford Cuautitlán was inaugurated as an engine foundry with a product development engineering center, central quality control laboratories and test track.

Later, as a multifunctional plant, it began with the production of vehicles and since then, it has become one of the most important facilities thanks to the more than 2 million units it has produced for Mexico and the rest of the world.

Although the initial purpose was the production of V8 engines and their components, later the assembly operations of the F -150, F-250 and F-550  trucks began to later manufacture several of the most iconic vehicles of the brand such as Cougar, Gran Marquis, Contour, Mustang, Ikon and Fiesta , whose manufacture ended in 2019 to start with the " Mexican electrification ."
