Bosch México maintains the diversification of its businesses by promoting electrification technologies and mobility solutions such as route optimization and road safety.

Only last year it invested about 90 million dollars and for this 2021, the technology company plans to inject capital with an approximate amount of 100 million dollars , which will be used for industry 4.0 and new products.

The foregoing was made known by René Schlegel, CEO of Bosch México, who during a conference commented that this year the launch of innovative products in the residential, commercial and industrial areas for the Thermotechnology business is planned Similarly, the Power Tools business will launch a wide range of high-performance cordless products.

He highlighted that the 12 manufacturing sites in the country will present progress in the implementation of industry 4.0 technologies such as the 49 digitization projects at the Toluca plant, new manufacturing lines at the Mexicali and Hermosillo plants ; as well as the implementation of the three-axis network motion control system for the production of auto parts through cold pressing  at Rexroth.

OUTLOOK FOR THIS YEAR

Grupo Bosch  achieved a positive outcome in 2020 despite the pandemic and got off to a successful start in the first quarter of 2021.

However, the company expects another difficult year, mainly due to the risks of the health contingency. And to develop new business opportunities based on the profound technological and ecological changes that are currently taking place, Bosch  is combining the Internet of Things (IoT) with artificial intelligence (AI) and is concentrating on electromobility .

Additionally, global efforts to combat climate change are driving electrification and green hydrogen. Electrification offers the company new opportunities in various business areas, as it requires solutions not only for electrical conduction in cars, but also for electrical heating in buildings.

In the powertrain , electromobility is establishing itself as Bosch's core business Fuel cells transform hydrogen into electricity and the technology company develops both stationary and mobile fuel cell solutions. From 2021 to 2024, Bosch plans to invest € 1 billion in fuel cell technology.

RESULTS 2020

The circumstances that characterized 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the economic impacts at the local and international level, were not alien to Bosch Mexico , and were reflected in a sales result of 2.7 billion dollars .

Consolidated sales to third parties in the national territory amounted to 579 million dollars .

Eventually, Bosch's four business sectors in Mexico : Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Durable Consumer Goods, Energy and Construction Technology were classified as essential activities, reactivating operations with capacity limits in 12 manufacturing plants and predominantly through remote work.

One of Bosch's  main strategies to overcome the contingency has been to retain and attract talent. The company managed to increase its workforce by 5% to reach 17,200 people in 2020.

This is a great achievement with a social dimension and a sign of commitment to workers in times of uncertainty.

The company achieved its goal of No Internal Contagion at Bosch sites throughout the past year with adherence to health and hygiene guidelines.

Therefore, the technology company provides its workers daily with more than 24,000 masks  produced at the Juárez plant with machinery built at the Toluca plant, as well as 105 liters of antibacterial gel and 20,000 protective lenses, among other supplies.

In addition, the company satisfactorily completed 18 government inspections in relation to the management of the pandemic in work centers and carried out 120 internal audits to monitor the measures in all locations in the country.

In environmental terms, Bosch is the first industrial company in the world to achieve net zero carbon emissions with respect to the energy it produces and the energy it obtains from external sources . It had a significant milestone in the spring of last year, when it reached climate neutrality at its 400 locations around the world , including Mexico, joining the global achievement. The goal for the future is to achieve a 15% reduction in emissions throughout the supply chain by 2030.

Regarding the Robert Bosch Mexico Foundation , it supported 37 projects related to reducing gaps in infrastructure, training and equipment for the activation of distance public education in highly marginalized areas. The people benefited by the educational projects of the foundation amount to 21,000 in nine  states.
