An investment of 170 million dollars was formalized for the arrival of Ikano Group to Ramos Arizpe

Directives from Ikano Group, an European company, officially arrived in Coahuila territory, by announcing the investment of 170 million dollars to build their first plant in Mexico, located in Ramos Arizpe.

The Polish-Swedish company is dedicated to the manufacturing of comfort products based on polyurethane foam as mattresses and lounges and has projected to start operations during the first quarter of 2021, generating more than 2,000 jobs on its first stage.

Mats Hakansson, vice-president of Ikano Group, said that this is the fourth plant they build, but the first outside Europe, which will have an extension of 200,000 square meters in the Amistad Industrial Park, in Ramos Arizpe.

“The advantages with which Ramos Arizpe led different areas perfectly match our project principles, that is why we decided to settle in the region. We have had a great support of the industrial community in Coahuila,” said the directive.

For Miguel Angel Riquelme, governor of the state, it is an investment that reinforces the furniture cluster which diversifies the regional economy and shows that Coahuila is defined by other branches.

Likewise, he committed to continue generating a qualified workforce, which was one of the factors that, among the previous talks, company directives told him influenced their decisions.

“My administration will continue seeking for stability and labor peace existing today, and will also be looking for the necessary infrastructure so in the future Ikano will be thinking about expanding its businesses in Coahuila to continue producing worldwide,” said the official.

He told businessmen the Southeast Region of Coahuila represents one of the highest potentials for the one of the biggest potentials for the country, and that today companies looking to invest in Mexico turn and see Coahuila as one of the most competitive options.

Meanwhile, Jose Maria Morales, mayor of Ramos Arizpe, said that the arrival of Ikano is an example of the trust investors have in Coahuila and this way confirms the industrial potential of the Southeast Region in the state.

Mats Hakansson was accompanied by Lars Thorsen, CEO of Ikano Group, as well as Marco Ramon Aguirre, president of Amistad Industrial Parks, besides state-level officials.
