American Woodmark begins construction of its plant in Nuevo León

The company of American origin American Woodmark carried out the ceremony of laying the first stone, where it will install a manufacturing plant in the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, with the aim of increasing the capacity of its production lines for kitchen and bathroom cabinets .

The new plant is located in the CPA Logistics Center ADN , on the highway to Laredo, Kilometer 23.3, in Ciénega de Flores, and has an extension of 275,904 square feet, where 45 million dollars will be invested, with the creation of 300 jobs.

In his speech, Scott Culbreth, president and CEO of American Woodmark, commented: "I am excited to participate in (the start of construction) of the first manufacturing plant in Ciénega de Flores, I would like to recognize the governor and authorities and representatives of the government".

"Getting to this day would not have been possible without the hard work of Prodensa and CPA, as well as our strategic team at American Woodmark. We are working as a team to build a 275,000+ square foot building this year to increase our capacity in the kitchen and bathroom line", emphasized the manager.

He added that the company is going to invest 45 million dollars and will help create 300 jobs and hopes to increase capacity in the future to reach 500 jobs.

It is worth mentioning that in October 2022, the company announced that during 2023 and 2024 they will invest 65 million dollars and create more than 500 jobs.

"Our strategy is focused on growth, digital transformation and platform design. We identified a need for additional capacity on our kitchen and bathroom cabinet production lines."

"By adding a fourth facility in Mexico and expanding the Hamlet, North Carolina location, we are strengthening our overall supply chain and enabling incremental capacity in both categories on the East Coast, which is one of the largest markets for repair, remodeling and new construction," said Scott Culbreth, in October 2022.

On the other hand, the mayor of Ciénega de Flores, Miguel Ángel Quiroga, announced that they are about to change the urban development plan, so that this and other companies that are arriving in the north of the state have easy access to the border crossings with the United States, at the same time that the population will find jobs closer to home.

The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, thanked the trust of this company in the state, as well as the support of Prodensa , which boasts the competitive advantages that the state has, since trade missions are not enough.

He stressed that this year is very important because the great works are beginning to be seen, especially the start of the roads; the third part of the peripheral begins, so that before June it can be reached from the municipality of Santa Catarina to Montemorelos in 40 minutes, and for those who come from the interserrana highway, "imagine the amount of traffic that they are going to save."

"You make kitchens and bathrooms, you need a flat road, for sure, there will be a detachment of 450 police elements, as well as the crossing of the Colombia Bridge that increased its collection in two years from 30,000 to 100,000 million pesos, occupying one of the first places, on the northern border.

In Mexico, the company also has plants in Querétaro and Tijuana. In total, it has 10,000 employees who support the operations of 12 own brands.
