Aguascalientes International Airport invests 60 million pesos to expand

In
2018 the International Airport of Aguascalientes, was benefited by the growth
the state has had, since during that year it achieved an increase of 18 percent
in the number of registered operations, what represents 18,360 national and
international operations.
This
way, the number of passengers also grew in a considerable manner with 15
percent, what means more than 865,000 users, achieving a largest traffic trend
in the history of the airport. While
international flights grew above 12 percent with more than 300 operations,
likewise the results were positive for national flights, whose increase was of
19.29 percent with 2,021 extra operations, therefore it is projected that for
2020 they will exceed one million.
For this year it
is sought to increase the connectivity with the United States, where more than
7,693 inhabitants of Aguascalientes live, according to the last figure of the
Institute for Mexicans Aboard (IME, by its Spanish initials) therefore, more
options will be offered for the people of Aguascalientes traveling continuously
to that country.
As of June 2019
one of the Mexican airlines will include on its catalogue a direct flight from
Aguascalientes to Chicago, which will begin operations on Sunday 16th
that month. With this new plant the
state Airport will be joining the three international destinations it already
has to Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston.
On the
other hand, the State Government together with the directive of Grupo
Aeropuertario del Pacifico (GAP) announced another Project which is the expansion
of the Jesus Teran Peredo International Airport with an initial investment of
60 million pesos. This process will take
place during the next 12 months as part of a first stage that consists in the
expansion of the waiting room, works by 220 million pesos are anticipated
afterwards between 2019 and 2024.
