Guanajuato is a state located in the central region of Mexico, with an area of 30,608 km², representing 1.56% of the country's total area. This strategic location places Guanajuato in a privileged position for economic development and connectivity with other regions of Mexico.
The state borders San Luis Potosí to the north, Querétaro to the east, Michoacán to the south, and Jalisco to the west. Guanajuato, one of the most dynamic states in Mexico, has a total population of 6,166,934 inhabitants. In terms of gender distribution, the state has a slight female majority with 51.4% of the population, while men make up 48.6%. This population composition reflects a balance that is evident in the state's various economic and social activities.
The municipalities with the highest population are León, Irapuato, and Celaya. León is the largest and most populous municipality, with 1,721,215 inhabitants, and is an important center of commerce and industry, especially in the manufacturing sector. Irapuato, with a population of 592,953 inhabitants, stands out for its agro-industrial activity and steady economic growth. Celaya, with 521,169 inhabitants, is also a key municipality, with a diversified economy that includes industries such as automotive and food processing.
The 43% of the surface of the state is represented by dry and semi-dry climate located mainly in the northern region; 33% of the surface towards the southwest and east present itself sub-humid warm climate and the remaining 24% presents a temperate sub-humid climate.
The average annual temperature is 18°C.
The highest average temperature is around 30°C and it occurs in the months of May and June and the lowest is around 5.2°C present itself in the month of January.
The rains occur in summer mainly in the months of June to September and the average rainfall of the state is approximately 650 mm per year.
Thanks to the type of soil and climate, Guanajuato is a state that is distinguished by its agricultural production of crops such as corn, beans, barley, wheat, flaxseed, chickpea, as well as peach, garlic, alfalfa, oats, barley, rye, tomato, beet, sorghum and apricot among others.
