The creation of the State of Mexico Investment Promotion Committee marked the announcement of projects totaling more than $1.1 billion — equivalent to 21 billion pesos — in the logistics sector. These initiatives will generate over 6,000 jobs for residents of the State of Mexico, leveraging its strategic location, infrastructure, and highly skilled workforce.

Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary of Government, thanked the companies for their continued investment in the region, emphasizing that this confidence reflects both the State Government’s commitment to the private sector and the policies designed to attract capital, protect projects, and foster employment.

Amazon Strengthens Its Footprint in the State of Mexico

Amazon will build a logistics station in Lerma and a new Disaster Relief Center in Tepotzotlán, generating 1,300 jobs. The company already operates six logistics centers in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Tepotzotlán, and Lerma, as well as two delivery stations in Tultitlán and Toluca, employing more than 10,000 people.

Mercado Libre Launches Latin America’s Largest Cross Dock Facility

Mercado Libre will invest in building the largest Cross Dock facility in Latin America, located in Cuautitlán, and in expanding infrastructure at its logistics centers in Tultepec and Cuautitlán. These projects will generate 5,000 jobs. Currently, the company operates four logistics centers in Cuautitlán, Tepotzotlán, Tultepec, and Cuautitlán Izcalli, employing more than 12,000 people in the state.

GEODIS Expands in Tultepec

French logistics company GEODIS, which has operated in the State of Mexico since 2011, will construct a new distribution center in Tultepec, creating 147 new direct jobs. This expansion adds to its existing workforce of over 2,000 employees across four logistics centers located in Tlalnepantla de Baz, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Tepotzotlán, and Tultepec.

Logistics Sector: A Driver of Employment and Investment

“These are positive results, as the confidence of major national and international companies has led to investments of more than 21.2 billion pesos in our state, strengthening the logistics sector and generating thousands of jobs for our citizens,” Duarte stated.

He also noted that more than 660,000 people in the State of Mexico work in the logistics sector. With 2,945 logistics-related businesses, the state ranks third nationwide in the industry’s presence.

Laura González Hernández, Secretary of Economic Development, emphasized that the State of Mexico leads the nation in distribution centers, with a total of 389 facilities — representing 13% of Mexico’s total.

“This sector contributes 7.5% of the state’s GDP and 9.4% at the national level, positioning us third in the country. During this administration, foreign logistics companies have invested $734.7 million, while Mexican companies have contributed 36.1 billion pesos, consolidating the Metropolitan Valley of Mexico region as a logistics and industrial hub,” González explained.

She also recognized the commitment of participating companies and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting all economic sectors and ensuring favorable conditions for continued investment in the State of Mexico.
